How We Teach Parkour

Every class at Bolt is built around real skill development, not just burning energy. We use a progressive curriculum that starts with ground-level movement and builds from there — no student attempts a skill they haven't been properly prepared for. Coaches introduce each skill, demonstrate it, break it into components, and work with students individually until they demonstrate control before adding height or speed.

Our 8:1 student-to-coach ratio is central to how this works. At that ratio, a coach can actually watch every student on every attempt, give real-time feedback, and adjust their approach based on how an individual is learning. It's genuinely different from larger group formats where kids end up mostly self-supervising.

What to Expect in Your First Class

New students are placed at the beginning of whatever progression applies — not because of their age, but because of where they actually are. A 12-year-old starting for the first time starts at the same point as a 7-year-old starting for the first time. Coaches frame this well, and kids respond to it better than parents expect.

The first class runs about 55 minutes. It starts with a dynamic warm-up, then 2–3 foundational skills at ground level, and ends with a short flow where students string what they've learned into a mini obstacle course. Most kids walk out wanting to come back. Wear athletic clothes and sneakers — no special gear needed.

Classes for Every Neighborhood in Montgomery County

Bolt Parkour draws students from across Montgomery County and Northern Virginia. Families from Rockville, Bethesda, Potomac, Kensington, Silver Spring, Chevy Chase, Wheaton, Gaithersburg, McLean, and Washington DC enroll in weekly classes. Our North Bethesda location is well-positioned for families across the region — most students are within 20 minutes.

Classes run seven days a week with morning, afternoon, and evening options. The enrollment portal lets you see real-time availability for each program and enroll directly online. Questions about which class is right for your child? Call us at 301.770.2727 or email hello@boltparkour.com.
